Getting started
Choose your tools and settings
Updated October 18, 2026
Your portal shows only the tools you use. Turn tools on or off on the Tools page, and control how they work on the Settings page. Both are in the portal's menu, for owners and admins.
Turn tools on and off
| Tool | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Clients | Everyone you work for, with their history in one place. |
| Inquiries | New requests from your contact page, ready to accept or decline. |
| Bookings | Your availability calendar and confirmed dates. |
| Invoices | Invoices and estimates, and what has been paid. |
| Galleries | Photos, videos and documents shared through private links. |
| Directory | Your team, who reports to whom, and their pay. |
| Schedules | Shifts, and who's working when. |
| Tasks | Jobs assigned to people and tracked to completion. |
| Time | Hours your team works, for you to approve. It appears as Timesheet in the menu. |
| Expenses | What you spend and the miles you drive, with receipts. |
Each tool has a switch that takes effect immediately. Turning a tool off hides it without deleting anything, and turning it back on restores everything. The page lists the tools Tendroom has made available to your business. To add another, select Request a tool.
While a tool is off, the pages your clients see for it stop working: your contact page needs Inquiries, invoice and estimate links need Invoices, and gallery links need Galleries. The tool's automatic emails stop too. With Directory off, staff can't sign in (owners and admins still can). Galleries are still deleted on their usual schedule.
Your settings
On Settings, select a value to change it. When you're done, select Save changes to save all your changes together, or Discard to undo them. Rows for tools you don't use are hidden.
| Section | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Business | Business name, phone, address, website, Time zone (used for due dates, bookings and reminders), and Reply-to email: where your clients' replies to Tendroom's emails go. Set it so every reply reaches you. |
| Invoices | Invoice numbers (1 to 6 letters or numbers before each number, such as INV), your Sales tax rate, and How clients pay you, the payment instructions shown on every invoice. |
| Bookings | Your Booking style. Day bookings add booking times, bookings per day and a minimum booking length. Service appointments add weekly hours, booking rules, a cancellation policy and appointment reminders. Shown when you use both Bookings and Inquiries. |
| Automatic emails | Reminders for overdue invoices, galleries about to close, and timesheets. |
| Team pay | Pay schedule, overtime rules, an automatic unpaid break, and estimated employer cost. Shown when you use Directory. |
| More | Import & export, Activity and Your account. The owner also sees Plan & usage. Custom domain and Connected apps appear once Tendroom turns them on for your business. |
| Danger zone | Owner only: transfer ownership, or close the business. |
Changing your invoice prefix changes the number shown on every invoice, including invoices you've already sent.
Choose what you call your clients
If you say customers, patients, members or students, change You call them under Settings → Business (shown when you use Clients). Choose one of the suggestions, or enter your own word in the singular and plural. Your portal's menus, buttons and lists use your word.
See what changed
Settings → More → Activity lists changes to your team, settings, tools and data, newest first, with who made each one. Owners and admins can see it, and entries are kept for a year.
