Getting started

Roles: owner, admin and staff

Updated October 18, 2026

Everyone who signs in to your portal has one of three roles, which decides what they can see and do. There are no separate permissions per person or per tool: a tool is on or off for the whole business.

The three roles

RoleWhat they can do
OwnerEverything. Only the owner sees Plan & usage and the Danger zone (transferring or closing the business), and card payments and Connected apps once Tendroom turns them on. A business has one owner.
AdminEverything else: clients, money, the team, Brand, Tools and Settings. Admins add new people as staff and can rename or remove staff, but can't change anyone's role, or rename or remove other admins or the owner.
StaffThe client tools you use (such as clients, inquiries, bookings, invoices and galleries), their own tasks, shifts and hours, and My pay. Staff don't see Expenses, Reports, Brand, Tools or Settings.

Change someone's role

Only the owner can change roles. In Directory, select the person, choose Admin or Staff under Access, and select Save changes. Nobody can change their own role.

Transfer the business to someone else

The owner can make someone else the owner under Settings → Danger zone → Transfer ownership. Choose a person already on your team and enter your password. They receive an email, and you become an admin.

If you sign in only with Google, set a password under Your account first. Transferring ownership asks for it.
