Your team
Timesheets and pay
Updated October 18, 2026
Your team enters the hours they work on Timesheet, week by week. Owners and admins approve them, and Pay calculates gross pay from approved hours. Tendroom doesn't run payroll or pay anyone: export the hours or pay for your payroll service.
Log your hours
- Open Timesheet. Each column is a day. Enter general work in the General row, or add a row for a client.
- Enter the hours you worked, not counting unpaid breaks, such as 8, 7.5 or 7:30. Each entry saves automatically.
- At the end of the week, select Submit week, then Submit timesheet to confirm.
When you use Schedules, the first time you open a week that has started, empty days are filled from your shifts, less unpaid breaks. Fill from my shifts fills any scheduled days that are still empty, and Copy last week copies the previous week. After submitting, Recall to edit reopens the week until it's approved.
Approve your team's hours
Owners and admins open the Team tab on Timesheet to see each person's week, then select Approve or Send back. You can't edit someone else's hours: send the week back for them to correct. An approved week can't be unapproved.
Turn on Timesheet reminders under Settings → Automatic emails (off by default) to remind anyone with unsubmitted hours on Mondays, and to send owners and admins the hours still waiting for approval the day after each pay period ends.
Pay
Set each person's pay in Directory first. Pay then shows each pay period: everyone's rate, hours, overtime and gross pay, from approved hours only. A salary is divided evenly across the year's pay periods, regardless of hours.
- Set your Pay schedule (every week, every 2 weeks, twice a month or every month) and Overtime rules under Settings → Team pay. By default, overtime starts after 40 hours in a week.
- After paying people through your payroll service, record it: everyone who can be paid starts selected, so clear anyone you haven't paid, set Paid on, select Mark as paid, and confirm. The amounts are recorded as they are, even if a rate changes later.
- Hours approved after you mark a period as paid aren't added. Select Mark as unpaid, then mark the period paid again.
- Export on Pay downloads the period as a spreadsheet for your payroll service. Export on Timesheet downloads submitted and approved hours for up to a year at a time, as every entry or totals per person.
Staff see My pay: their gross pay from approved hours, before taxes, and their past payments. Their payslip comes from your payroll service.
